Businesses Press Releases are an important part of company advertising and public relations. It is especially important that these are well written and correctly formated because they represent the company. In business writing, it is important to know how to write a good business press release.
Press Release Format
Press releases are formatted as a standard newspaper article. It uses the inverted pyramid style of writing (which is in descending in a logical order from most important to least). It is important to format it this way because oftentimes there is limited space and time depending on the media day and the article may become shortened before getting published.
After the headline, the first paragraph is the lead paragraph which contains sentences which state the article. The following paragraphs are the body of the press release. The point of this business writing style is to ensure that writers get the point of the article early on.
Elements of a Press Release
A press release usually has five main elements:
- Title
- Head
- Body
- Contact Information
- Ending
